This is a workshop of doom and gloom ... and hope. This is the opportunity to learn about despair and hope and what we can do, not just what we should do.

The 21st century will be a time of immense change. The climate is changing and the earth is becoming warming. The scientific evidence indicates that we could be entering an era unlike any we have experienced in the past 55 million years. And all because of our own doing --- mankind has become too careless. We are about to destroy our civilization; it is not that we may destroy but will destroy our culture if we do not do something different with whom we are.

This is not a weekend of criticism, but a weekend to explore what is actually happening and its causes. And to gain tools to do something about these issues. Because of the potential impact, it is also a weekend to explore the emotional impact of what is happening. Climate change may result in incredible wars amongst people or as incredible angst personally. It may be a source of great pain, of great despair, of great anger, and we will explore how we create these issues.

It can also be an opportunity for us to recreate ourselves as a mature species, stewards of the earth. Hence it can be an opportunity for great hope. The weekend is set up to explore these emotions in a safe and supportive community, and to allow deep exploration.

Dave is widely known for his work on emotional management; much of his work is covered by OHIP. HIs focus is changing to that of social advocacy for a healthier society. Because of the dangers of our modern world, Dave regards this weekend as a form of preventive medicine.
